The California Department of Fish and Game Wildlife Conservation Board provided a grant that enabled Lake Cuyamaca to greatly improve the accessibility to two of the best fishing spots at our lake. The improvements include a wharf that enables handicapped persons and any required helpers exclusive use of one of the best fishing locations on the lake. There are six parking spaces very close by with restroom facilities.

Also, the fishing float has a new concrete sidewalk that allows for easier access. An accessible restroom has been placed at the entrance of the fishing float and there is ample parking.

The wharf was designed to provide access on the dike in a spot that historically is one of the most productive for trout and catfish at Lake Cuyamaca year round. During the Summer, the fishing float, while great for crappie, bass and catfish, was not a good trout spot. Physically challenged anglers did not have a very good chance to catch trout. Today they have one of the best spots on the lake.

We also have very stable flat bottomed boats that will accommodate a wheelchair and/or if you have difficulty entering or exiting a boat  we can bring the boat to the launch ramp. Entering or exiting the boat is very easy because the boat is beached and you step over the rail from firm ground. Just let us know how we can help make your visit enjoyable.
